Privacy policy

This policy covers the Learn Hindi app for iPhone and iPad and this website. Learn Hindi is published by KarmaAcademy in Australia. “We” and “us” in this policy mean KarmaAcademy.

Information that stays on your device

The app stores the following only on your device, in the app’s own storage:

• Each learner’s nickname and chosen avatar.
• Lesson progress, checkpoint results, streaks, achievements and daily goals.
• Settings such as larger text, dark appearance, reduced motion and pronunciation hints.

We never receive this information. Deleting a learner removes that learner’s data from the device, and deleting the app removes all of it.

Microphone and speaking practice

The app asks for microphone access only when you choose to practise speaking. You can decline and keep learning everything else.

• Your recordings are analysed on your device by a pronunciation model that runs on the device itself.
• Recordings are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
• Recordings are deleted when your practice session ends. Pronunciation results stay on your device.

You can turn microphone access off at any time in the Settings app under Learn Hindi.

Course downloads

Some course audio and the pronunciation model are downloaded after you install the app. Apple hosts and delivers these files through the App Store’s download service, under Apple’s privacy policy. We don’t receive information about your downloads.

Game Center (optional)

You can choose to link one learner to your Game Center account. When you do, the app sends that learner’s number of completed lessons to the Hindi learners leaderboard and reports their achievements to Game Center. Other players may see your Game Center name and score, depending on your Game Center settings.

Game Center is provided by Apple and covered by Apple’s privacy policy. Learners who aren’t linked never send anything to Game Center. Unlinking or deleting a learner stops future reports but doesn’t remove scores already submitted; you can manage your Game Center data in the Settings app.

Children

Learn Hindi is designed for learners of all ages, including children learning alongside a parent. Because the app doesn’t collect personal information, it doesn’t collect personal information from children. Parents control microphone access and Game Center through the device’s Settings and Screen Time.

This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may log technical information such as IP addresses to operate and secure the service, as described in the GitHub privacy statement. The website’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it delivers them, as described in the Google privacy policy.

Your rights

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we don’t hold personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you contact us by email, we use your message only to reply, and we delete it when it’s no longer needed.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app or website handles information, we’ll update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
